Body rashes...General information
By docperesThe term "BODY RASH" is not specific. It means any skin eruption or lesion. This may appear in any part of the body-the neck, face, hands, leg, trunk, buttocks, genital areas or the scalp. A body rash may or may not be contagious. The area of skin affected by a rash may be dry, wrinkled, blistered, red, itchy or rough.
A lot of people in the population suffer from body rashes. Any body rash should be properly evaluated by a medical doctor or a dermatologist because body rashes can be caused by a variety of medical conditions.
CAUSES OF BODY RASHES
The main groups of factors that cause body rash include
- bacterial skin infections
- fungal skin infections
- viral infections
- reactions or allergies to substance
Allergic reactions to substances are the most common causes of
body rash. People may be allergic to certain foods,
clothings, chemicals, sun rays, cosmetics, perfume and toilet
seats. The most common viral infections with body rash include
oral and genital herpes, chicken pox, measles. Ringworm, acne,
eczema are some examples of fungal skin infections with body
sores.
SYMPTOMS OF BODY RASHES
The symptoms and signs of a body rash may include
- itching
- local warmth
- fever due to infection
- tingling or burning sensation
- red coloration of skin
- scaly patches of skin
- blistering
- vesicles, spot or papules
- small red bumps
- dry rough skin
TREATMENT/REMEDIES
Though I do not encourage self-diagnosis and treatment,
there are some remedies you may take at home to relieve the
discomfort before a visit to the doctor.
The following are measures you can take at home
- apply olive oil, baking soda , aloe vera on the affected area of the skin
- immersing your body in an oathmeal bath can help also
- you can buy drugs or creams that stop itching from the drug store
